Biesse celebrates its partnership with the Institute of Wood Science & Technology

The Group confirms its commitment towards education and its will to support the country in which it operates by investing in projects that boost the spread of knowledge of the most innovative woodworking technologies. Biesse has in fact signed up a Memorandum with the Institute of Wood Science & Technology for a period of 5 years under which it affirms its will to financially support the project.

Biesse celebrated its partnership with the Institute of Wood Science & Technology (IWST), an institution that works under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (Government of India). Among the Institutional personalities that took part in the celebration, Stefania Costanza, Consul General of Italy, Amar Joshi, Deputy General of IICCI, and Surendra Kumar, IWST Director who, together with Biesse India team represented by Sayeed Ahmed (CEO), Stefano Bottene (Sales&Marketing Director) and Gianluca Dolciotti (Director) inaugurated the 2018/2018 academic year.

This collaboration has led to the establishment of a one-year Diploma in Advanced Woodworking (started on July the 1^st, 2018) and 3 short-term courses designed for student with basic skills. This quite comprehensive program has been devised to train the future technicians and operators as well as encouraging them to become successful entrepreneurs. IWST affiliation to Furniture & Fittings Skill Council, under National Skill Development Corporation, gives a very good accreditation to the programs conducted under it. For this reason, well-known brands of the Woodworking Industry in India like Pidilite (for glue), Leitz (tooling), Rehau (edges) have evinced keen interests in this program by organizing lectures and seminar and by contributing with their product samples for students to practice.  

Economic growth and the increasing aspiration of Indian population for a better standard of living are both offering a huge potential for the development of woodworking industry. However, the lack of skilled manpower can impede or lessen the positive effects of this process. For this reason, in line with the Group vision and as part of Corporate Social Responsibility, Biesse is striving to promote vocational training and technical education in woodworking technologies and processes. Biesse has thus signed a Memorandum with IWST for a period of five years under which it affirms its commitment to provide the infrastructure and finance to sustain this project.

In addition Biesse purse the enlargement of its network of collaboration with many other institutes to strengthen the connection between the Industrial environment and Educational Institutions. This is a powerful tool to promote the awareness of the Italian brand in a growing market that perfectly fit in the larger purpose of “Make in India’ through the promotion of “Made in India” machines and the spread of technological knowledge.
