Biesse presents new Sustainability Report
Biesse, international manufacturer of machines and integrated lines for materials processing, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, has released its new 2023 Sustainability Report, a comprehensive report highlighting the company's achievements in terms of economic, social and environmental sustainability.
During 2022, Biesse spa signed a supplementary smart working contract to allow employees to continue working for the company in a hybrid way. In addition, as in the previous year, the company maintained its safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001:2018. To this end, 10,000 hours of training were devoted to health and safety issues, in addition to a number of sustainability sessions to make employees more aware of the company's sustainability journey.
The company is committed to supporting the community by promoting various projects aimed at educating children and young students. In particular, this year the office in India supported several educational initiatives to ensure a suitable place to study and appropriate courses to train young students.
The environmental sustainability journey continues, with the company improving its environmental performance during the year. Biesse Spa earned ISO 14001:2015 certification for its environmental management system and the company worked constantly to improve the energy efficiency of its plants, including purchasing electricity from renewable sources with guarantees of origin for Italian companies. The headquarters in Pesaro has also been fitted with 16,500 sqm of photovoltaic panels, avoiding 787 tonnes of CO2.
From the point of view of materials management, Diamut – the company's brand dedicated to the production of tools for processing glass and natural and artificial stone and ceramic materials – has developed a new "cobalt-free" binding agent, which is used on all the products in its range. This provides a benefit to customers by saving on the waste disposal costs associated with the manufacturing process of the material.
Finally, still on the subject of sustainability, Biesse will be unveiling an HFS hydrogen gluing system at LIGNA, the biennial trade fair dedicated to woodworking technologies, to be held in Hanover, Germany, from 15 to 19 May 2023. The new system combines technological innovation and environmental performance for panel edging.
